What Does Optimal Health Mean to You?

What does "optimal health" mean to you? I ask my patients this all the time — the answers are never quite what they expect to say.

In over 25 years of practice, I've found most people define health as simply not being unwell. But Traditional Chinese Medicine takes a different view — health as balance. Balance between Yin and Yang, and the smooth flow of Qi (vital energy) through the body.
When that balance tips, the body tells you. Fatigue. Bloating. Poor sleep. Skin flare-ups. In my experience, these aren't things to just push through — they're useful information.
What I see makes the biggest difference for patients:
Sleep and rest that work with your body's rhythm, not against it
Food as medicine — supporting digestion, not just counting calories
Movement that builds energy rather than draining it — Qi Gong and Tai Chi are excellent examples
Addressing stress directly — because it doesn't stay in the mind, it shows up in the body
Over the next few weeks, I'll be breaking down some of the conditions I treat most often — migraine, digestive issues, sleep problems, stress, skin conditions, and more — with practical, evidence-informed lifestyle support you can start using straight away.
Good health shouldn't depend on your postcode or your budget.
