Why Did You Use That Point?

Spleen 6 - Three Yin Intersection

Chinese name: Sanyinjiao

Spleen 6 is located on the inside of the leg using the width of your four fingers placed above the high point of your ankle bone. Spleen 6 is found in the soft part of the leg just behind the tibia bone. Feel for the most tender spot and press.

One of the most widely used acupuncture points is spleen 6. Named ‘Three Yin Intersection’ as the liver and kidney channels also pass through this point. It is a primary point for treating digestive, gynecological, and urinary disorders, as well as emotional and sleep disorders.

Primarily used to nourish and strengthen the spleen and to clear dampness in the body, which presents as a heavy feeling as well oedema/swelling in the legs. Also indicated to regulate urination when there is difficulty urinating. It also helps calm the mind for anxiety and insomnia.

An exceptional point with a wide range of applications, I incorporate this point in most of my treatments.
