Appointments are available weekdays between 2 pm and 5 pm in Camberwell SE5. Treatment is priced at £35 per session.
Acupuncture is now recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) for chronic pain and migraine. Acupuncture's scope goes way beyond treating pain. It also supports your immune system and it effectively helps people who suffer from anxiety, stress, trauma and much more.
Acupuncture isn't just about qi (energy flow). Qi is our life force and it's the basis we work from in Traditional Chinese medicine, after all, we are made up of atoms. It's this invisible life force called qi that keeps our bodies together and functioning. An acupuncturist will approach treatment from a Chinese medicine perspective and also from a scientific understanding of what is happening in the body.
You may be surprised to know that acupuncturists are trained in the fundamentals of physiology and pathology in biomedicine as well as diagnostics, investigations, management, and treatment interventions. We also train in basic pharmacology, drug management issues and know when to refer when we notice a red flag or something which is beyond our scope. Having studied biomedicine also helps us have a better understanding of the physiological mechanisms and effects of acupuncture.
Acupuncture enjoys moderate to strong evidence of effectiveness in the treatment of 46 conditions and is considered safe in the hands of properly trained practitioners. Comparatively, for many conditions, it enjoys greater evidence than many conventional treatments and is relatively safer.
